If you’ve looked around the internet lately, you might’ve noticed that a lot of it is slop. I feel like 5 years ago, I was regularly engaging with interesting, thought-provoking, and entertaining content on nearly every social media platform I used, but recently, it’s felt like all of the good stuff is buried under thousands of tons of slop. I don’t know if it’s because Elon Musk bought Twitter or I’ve just gotten older, but I’m getting sucked into the slop just as much as any 12-year-old boy who doesn’t know a life without Roblox. My entire Instagram Reels feed is nothing but clips of Temple Run gameplay with Family Guy clips playing over it. I don’t even like Family Guy and its gag-based comedy, but I am not immune to the Peter Griffin propaganda. The only way I can stop watching inane stuff like this is by turning off my phone and putting it in a drawer.
