Why do people use the phrase «happy as a clam?» I’ve eaten a few clams in my day, and I can’t imagine they were that stoked about it. And they don’t have faces (as far as I can tell) so it’s impossible to tell what they’re feeling at any given moment. Is it because they are wordless and faceless that we can project anything we wish upon them? Or is it the very fact that they are such simple creatures that they are thus given to happiness? No brains, no legs, no problems. 

I do wish I could know what those underwater mollusks are thinking, just for a second. They’re probably operating on a level I could never understand. Maybe they’ve figured out the key to existence, and they’re tight-lipped about it because they don’t want anyone else to know. Greedy clams. Well, if they hold the key to happiness or not, these memes will make you smile whether you’re a clam or a human.
