Boss Doesn’t Tell Employees New Policy For Requesting Time Off, Writes Worker Up For Doing it Wrong

Asking for time off work can be a little bit intimidating. If you don’t have a job where you get paid time off, bosses will often shame you for asking about taking a little time for yourself. Even if you have PTO, you risk getting laughed out of the room when asking for time off. Sure, some people abuse the system, but most of us want a couple of days off of work without fighting our bosses for it.

There are many different ways an employee can ask for time off. You can text your boss, request off in an app, or ask a fellow employee to switch shifts with you. Whatever your company’s policy, the HR department needs to communicate how and how early you must request PTO. Unfortunately, for one dude simply trying to celebrate Easter this past weekend, his company did not do that.
