It’s kind of wild how popular dogs are as pets, in our commitment-averse society. Of course, there are plenty out there that need good homes, but having one in your house is basically like raising a furry toddler who can’t speak. They weren’t lying when they tried to drill it into us that dogs are a big old responsibility.

Sometimes that is exactly how they feel, especially when we have to reroute our entire daily routine around their wants and needs. Isn’t the payoff (mostly) worth it, though? They can be strange creatures and they are very, very needy, but the affection and entertainment they bring is enough to soothe even the most tortured of souls. That’s part of the reason that they are such an attractive prospect for memes, as they give doses of humorous and wholesome in equal measure. It’s the perfect package, and it’s hard to avoid a casual scroll through.
