‘Is this grand theft or great-grand theft?’: Cute little old man steals art from local library, sparks the funniest comment section

Some places you can tell just how quaint they truly are by which crimes they make out to be a big deal. This happened to Lewes, Delaware in August of this year. An elderly man was found stealing art from the local library’s art exhibit. The Lewes Police Department decided it would be a good idea to post the report on their official Facebook page to see if locals could help them find the perpetrator. In September, they posted on the same Facebook that the man was found and the artwork returned thanks to the many comments. (It’s unknown if chargers were filed.) However, if you browsed the comment section, it felt more like a roast/comedy show than tips for the police. Unfortunately, the post has since been taken down, because I guess the Lewes, De. police department doesn’t have the best sense of humor… But don’t you fret, because a woman whose parents had just moved to Lewes at the time of the crime, made sure to take screenshots of her favorite comments and posted them to her social media. Art theft committed by a senior citizen sounds like a comedy movie in the making if you ask me!
