New Age Taxidermy: Family Encases Deceased Dog in Resin as a Horrifying Father’s Day Present

Some pet owners find comfort in preserving the body of their best friend after they’ve passed. I can’t relate to that personally: my dead dog’s ashes are in little boxes in my parent’s closet. Despite what movies like Psycho might have you believe, doing taxidermy or having taxidermied animals in your home does not make you a total freak. It only makes you a little bit of a freak, and if you’re willing to stuff your dog, you’ve got to accept that.

If you’ve been online recently, I’m sure you’ve seen some videos of various things being encased with resin. Resin is a clear liquid that preserves objects for long stretches of time. You’ve probably seen preserved bugs encased in resin at a science museum at some point in your life. This week, a family went viral on Twitter for having their dead dog encased in resin, and they are disturbed, to say the least.
