‘Personality tests train people to lie to their employers’: People express dismay at dishwasher job application using AI personality test

One of the more optimistic predictions that used to be made about artificial intelligence is that it would make our working lives easier. So far, the AI revolution seems to have proved that it wants to do the exact opposite of that. Many of us know someone who has lost a job (or at least felt it under threat) because of developments in this technology, and our corporate overlords seem to delight in using it in ways both annoying and sadistic.

A case in point is a job application tool that 404 Media has drawn attention to recently. Paradox.ai is a lengthy personality quiz that numerous food service chains and other big tertiary sector employers are using to weed out job seekers who don’t have the kind of traits that they desire.

To nobody’s surprise, Twitter wasn’t happy to hear that the thankless task of entry-level job application had become even more difficult. I guess they have to narrow down those hundreds of applicants somehow.
