Today I learned that the bagworm moth caterpillar literally builds itself tiny log cabins out of sticks of various sizes that spiral upward to a point. They’re beautiful and intricate little structures. Who knew insects could be such talented architects? I can barely use a caulking gun let alone build a freaking house out of random debris. I don’t really need to tell anyone how special and amazing animals are. Everybody knows that. But who would’ve thought that all earth needed to get things fired up were some squishy sea sponges, a few millimetre-long placozoans, and boom—640 million years later we’ve got millions of different animal species living on planet earth.
