Can you believe there are still people out there who believe the video game is an evil medium that poisons the minds of children? Sure, some games are straight up garbage, but it’s the same with every subset of media—literature, journalism, music, film, television—you name it. Perhaps gaming as a whole still gets an especially bad rap because it requires so much of the participant’s time and attention. Unlike other forms of media, video games can’t usually be consumed passively. They require the player’s utmost focus and concentration, which can often piss off any parent or significant other in the vicinity.
