In the olden days, skilled minstrels and wandering troubadours roamed from village to village, regaling audiences with their captivating ballads and tales. These balladeers went on epic adventures, singing verses and rhymes, bringing said adventures to life… keepers of oral traditions, one might say. Passing down history, culture, and folklore through their lyrical songs… think of them as living archives of their time. Now, how do these fun bunch of people who are no longer with us relate to memes?

As we sift through classical art, adding modern quotes to make them funny (in other words, vandalize artists’ work by digitizing it), we are also passing on history, culture, and one might argue, folklore.
