What is a slut? Most people think they know what this word means, but many would define it differently. For some, it would be about the number of people that somebody sleeps with; for others, it would be as simple as how they dress. Yet more want to reclaim it from its insulting and shameful origins, and turn it into something worth celebrating.

With all these different interpretations swirling around a loaded piece of vocabulary, it’s easy to get confused. It’s no surprise, then, that when Twitter users started mulling over their «slut era(s)», things got derailed pretty quickly. In theory, this is a concept that is all about releasing yourself from self-limiting beliefs and having some chaotic fun. In practice, or at least in meme form, this doesn’t always go to plan. It’s all well and good trying to let loose, but sometimes other things can get in the way.
