Weird And Cursed Duolingo Sentences That Definitely Aren’t Vacation Friendly

Every day, countless well meaning individuals download the Duolingo app in a hopeful attempt to engage in self-betterment, and maybe annoy their friends with some newfound foreign vocabulary. Every day, these same people realize that the Duolingo owl is their new nemesis, destined to haunt their phones until they switch off their notifications (or give up completely and uninstall).

Over the past decade, the language app has revolutionized how we think about mobile learning in a way that miraculously doesn’t include a legion of dumb memes. At the same time, it’s become so notorious that it has also inspired its fair share. The most productive way to learn a language is by total immersion, and this is something that Duolingo does its best to replicate.

However, sometimes it can feel like the developers are getting a little too creative with the word combinations that they put in the daily lessons. Working on the basis of «why the hell did they come up with that?» @DuolingoStrange collects all the weirdest examples of sentences that bemused students have been asked to construct. In terms of entertainment value, it sure beats finding out how to ask where the train station is.
