There are plenty of historical civilizations that were pretty cool. For example, the Ancient Egyptians gave us hieroglyphs to decode, and the Romans built the Colosseum. Up there with the best of them have to be the Vikings, who perfected the whole pirate thing centuries before anyone else and had some pretty gnarly aesthetics to boot — although there’s no denying they really, really liked killing people.
