When you were 14 and discovered heavy black eyeliner, unironic trench coats, witchy cats, and horror movies, your mom told you that it was only a phase and that she wasn’t going to take you back-to-school shopping at Hot Topic. «The music is loud and all the employees look like they hate me», she said. Well, she wasn’t wrong about the employees hating her, but now look at you, decades later you’re still the same ol’ goth. Sure, you’re probably more of a refined corporate goth now (wearing sleek black pantsuits instead of safety pinned, metal band t-shirts), but you never grew out of that ‘phase’. You’re still fascinated by taxidermy, you still love listening screaming music, and watching a classic slasher movie from the 80’s brings you great peace. You probably crushed Wednesday Addams on Netflix and you’re most certainly already counting down the days until your favorite holiday of the year: Halloween.
