Facebook Marketplace can be a wonderful tool for furnishing your apartment on the cheap. Not to mention, it’s an easy way to sustainably shop secondhand. It’s always a risk, though, buying something from an un-vetted stranger. You never know if what you’re buying is being accurately represented, or more riskily, if the person selling it to you is who they say they are. And the worst part is the scammers! I tried to sell an old couch on FB Marketplace, and 80% of the responses were from scammers who were ultimately after my credit card information. 

The wonderful thing about sites like these is also the absurd thing about sites like these. Anyone can sell anything, so it’s like the Wild West out there.
