But first, let’s talk about food. I absolutely hate dieting, and I love food. As you can imagine, this becomes a problem whenever I try and shed a few pounds. Naively, I always assumed one could just ramp up their workout routine in order to cancel out a few over-indulgent weekends of beer, pizza, burgers, and burritos. Apparently, that’s not quite how it works. The other day I googled ‘why am I not losing any weight even though I work out six days a week’ and the results weren’t exactly encouraging. Many fitness-obsessed redditors said the same basic thing: that abs can be achieved by doing 50 sets of closing the fridge, and a dozen reps of putting the fork down. Deep down, I knew all along that I couldn’t just eat whatever I wanted and still expect to shed some pounds, but here we are.
