It makes perfect sense that the programmers of this world are so prolific and skilled when it comes to making memes about their pastime or profession. If you are going to produce all of the blood, sweat, and tears that go into making this technology work, why wouldn’t you want to use it to indulge in a little lighthearted humor about the process? 

Another benefit is that it creates a common language with which non-coders can (kind of) understand the struggles that you can go through. Memes are a lingua franca that can help anybody to learn, so long as they have spent enough time scrolling on the internet. Still, it wouldn’t be fair to give everything away and there are usually enough obscure references to make sure that happens. A great coder never wants to give away their secrets to the untrained eye, even if it can be tempting when other people test you.
