Happy, or should I say Hoppy Easter, everyone. It’s the day where you eat brunch, watch your cousins run around looking for eggs, and probably have one too many Cadbury creme eggs. (Though personally, I’m a sucker for the chocolate eggs with the pastel candy coating… ooh mama). The touchstones that make us Easter can be a little puzzling. Ostensibly, it’s about Jesus’ resurrection. But it’s also somehow about rabbits? And baby chicks? And pastel eggs, the kind that are not found in nature and definitely don’t come from bunnies? 

But all holidays are a little strange once you think about it too hard. Why evergreen trees? Why pumpkins? It’s better not to ask questions and just appreciate the ritual. As long as you’re getting a healthy amount of chocolate in your system and spending some time with loved ones, it doesn’t matter that your lamb cake looks more like a deranged labradoodle.
