Where would we be as a culture without treats? I feel lucky to live in an era when this is a widely-appreciated phenomenon. Everyone knows what it’s like to finish a hard task and to reward yourself with a bag of something salty, a bite of something sweet, or a fun drink that you probably spent too much money on. But I don’t care if it’s frivolous. Life is hard, and we’ll do whatever it takes to get through it. And if what it takes is holing up in my room with a box of Hot n’ Spicy Cheez-Its, I think that’s pretty harmless in the grand scheme of things. At least I’m not turning to violence.
