Let’s talk about one of the strongest driving forces behind the Star Wars franchise, and no, I’m not talking about George Lucas’ sheer sense of will. I’m talking about Good and Evil. And yes, I’m capitalizing those words because they are monolithic thematic entities. There is the unstoppable force of good that meets the immovable object of evil. And what do you get when those collide? A billion-dollar, generation-spanning franchise that has captured the imaginations of millions. 

Of course, good and evil aren’t wholly cut and dry within the Star Wars cinematic universe. Like any good story, the lines get blurred, power is corrupted, and people live long lives and see themselves turn into the villain. It’s much like life in that way.
