I think most folks would agree that showing up to the page can be the hardest part of the writing process. We think we need the right cocktail of inspiration, free time, and motivation. But it’s rare that those three things appear at the same time. It’s a boring truth that what it really takes is discipline. I find that this is easier when I reward myself with something. 

For example, I will allow myself to have a couple of sour gummy worms after writing for half an hour. You’d be surprised how much you can get done in 30 minutes when there’s a gummy worm waiting for you. Sometimes we have to treat ourselves like children. It’s really that simple. So this meme list is dedicated to all those writers who have learned how to gentle parent themselves into getting their first draft done. It’s the hardest part by far.
