If you did dry January, kudos to you. But chances are, you’re deep into February and wouldn’t turn down a vodka cran on a Tuesday. Sure, alcohol isn’t the best for your health, but neither is sadness. So you belly up to your favorite neighborhood gin joint, and you’re taken into the loving embrace by your favorite bartender. He knows your order (gin martini heavy on the vermouth with a twist), and he already has it ready for you as you sit down. You appreciate him. You say, «Thanks, Joe. You always know just what I want.» You sip it slowly, feeling the day melt away. You tip him 25%. Joe appreciates you too. It’s a beautiful reciprocal relationship. Maybe next time you come in he’ll let you test out the new Negroni riff he’s been working on. He wants your feedback. You trust each other.
