I’m never not thinking about the documentary Grizzly Man. For those who don’t know, it’s about a man who hangs out with grizzly bears every summer for years, vlogs his experience, and eventually gets eaten by one. What baffles me so much about this movie is how little the bears care about him in contrast to how much he loves them. In a sense, he has a parasocial relationship with the animals he’s obsessed with. The other baffling aspect of this movie is that there are animals in this Alaskan wilderness that love him back: the little foxes that roam around and let him pet them. He might still be around if he had loved the foxes more than the animals that led to his death. 

If you love animals but not to the point that you’d risk your life to view them from afar, these animal memes are just right.
