I miss movies starring animals. Maybe it’s just because I’m 24 years old and no longer watch kids’ movies, but I feel like it’s been years since I’ve seen a new live-action film with a wacky animal leading the ensemble to rousing success.

I recently watched Mouse Hunt, starring Nathan Lane, and had a real «They don’t make them like this anymore» moment. It’s about a pair of brothers who inherit a dilapidated mansion, and the most insurmountable problem they have with it is the presence of a clever mouse. The brothers try to find more elaborate ways to eliminate this mouse, but they can’t do it! It’s like Home Alone for the animal community. Eventually, the boys admit defeat against the mouse and go into the cheese business with him.
