A great game is like reading a great novel or watching a great movie. It transports you to another world, shows you its magic, and makes you think about your own journey in life. But the crazy thing about video games is that you get to be in control of that world. You are the protagonist. Or perhaps the antagonist, or perhaps God (if you’re playing Sims). It’s a completely immersive experience. 

Remember when Black Mirror tried to recreate a choose-your-own-adventure series with Bandersnatch? It kind of flopped. Something about combining TV and the choices of the viewer didn’t quite feel right. Who knows, maybe somebody will crack the code of that format one day, or perhaps video games will be left to flourish as their own category. They’re not going anywhere anytime soon.
