Ah, Marvel movies. They’ve become an object of scorn by both film snobs and superhero fans alike. If Marvel makes billions of dollars as they did in 2019, snobs complain that they’re becoming too much of a cultural monopoly, making little room for anything else. If Marvel movies flop commercially, then they’re a harbinger of the death of the superhero movie altogether, according to superhero fans who care about the box office more than a film’s actual quality.
