Happy National Texas Day! Shockingly, this is a different holiday than Texas Independence Day, which anyone who passed their 7th grade Texas History class would know is on March 2nd. Today is about celebrating Texas as a state rather than an independent country with only nine years of glory. Even though Texan secession from the United States is a frequent topic of discussion amongst Texans, I don’t think it will happen. Texas has a good economy, but it’s not good enough to sustain itself outside the US. Even though not all Texas want to admit it, we wouldn’t have the Texas we know today without being a part of America. If our children only had to say the Texas Pledge at school and not the Pledge of Allegiance, we would be depriving them of the frankly superior Pledge.
