Another glorious week on the haunted graveyard that is the website formerly known as Twitter. The app has gone through many iterations in its time, from its inception as a fun little way for celebrities to say how much they love tacos, to its heyday of funny accounts, to the wild wild west epitomized by Jaboukie Young-White’s profile picture-changing shenanigans, to the fraught weeks of transition to the hands of a certain tech billionaire, to now when a few brave souls are left shouting into the void.
It’s sort of like life after the apocalypse. Sure, things are mainly terrible, but we’re rebuilding in a way that gives some measure of hope. People are still going to need a place to share their silly little thoughts, and it sure isn’t going to be Threads. Maybe a new thing will come along, but for now, we will cling to the remains of Twitter and be glad for what we get.
