Aside from those who are especially passionate about the cause (or don’t spend enough time going outside), very few people think that memes are out here to change the world. Sure, they can be a great way to spread a message, and the best ones are memorable enough to be remembered and remixed for an eternity in internet years. Most of the time, however, they’re just another way to pass the time without doing anything that is of any consequence. Some might say that this is a waste, but we all need our moments where we can retreat to another place to enjoy ourselves. While the internet isn’t always the best place to achieve that, it is at least guaranteed that there are memes out there to cheer us up. Scrolling memes is a lucky dip in terms of both subject matter and funniness, but it’s all part of the process.
