Who knows what was going through the minds of the first people to start creating internet memes. Most likely it was something extremely dumb. Nevertheless, we’ve got to thank them for sharing that extreme dumbness with the world, because now we all have a great reason to be staring at our phones all the time even when no one wants to text us. They may vary in quality, but they more than make up for it in variety — and there seem to be a never-ending stream of them, too. 

While sometimes it feels good to be immersed in it all, it can be difficult to figure out where to start browsing. Thankfully, there are plenty of lists like this which exist specifically to help you decide. They are the gateway to pretty much anything you can think of, so long as it involves mild amusement via pictures. It’s hard to argue with that.
