I grew up in a strict household, one that abided by the unwritten laws of social norms, and also abided by the written ones. Basically, manners mattered, and that included the actual time I spent at a dinner table. Heaven forbid I went to a friend’s house and used the same fork. The way I talk, you might arrive to the conclusion that I come from a rich background or something, but quite the contrary. My parents worked hard, and money wasn’t always exactly flowing. They were very worried that if I did not have manners, I would not get a good job. And if I get a good job, then I can marry a prince and live happily ever after. Okay, so that was a joke. Sort of.
