Ahhh yes «dad rock»—the genre that is always changing. It can literally mean anything. It all depends on dads and music. Many people just see old rock bands and automatically think «dad rock.» Bands like Metallica, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Black Sabbath, Bruce Springsteen, heck, even Elvis Presley can be considered dad rock. Most recently, pop punk bands from the 90s/early ’00s are starting to make their way into the dad rock genre as their fans start to become dads. So bands like Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance are starting to be called «dad rock.» Even Avril Lavigne recently got put into the dad rock genre.
