Bridesmaid pays over $9500 to attend friend’s destination wedding, sparks debate about wedding expenses: ‘Trying to ruin the friendship before the wedding’

It’s no secret that weddings are an expensive affair. From the dress to the venue to the flowers to the catering… you might be taking out a loan for your dream wedding. And that’s just on the couple’s side. A hidden expense that we’re not talking about enough is wedding party expenses. If you’ve received the honor of being asked to join a bridal party, you better have a beefy savings account. Of course, you want to support your friends and family in their dream day, but when you’re doing a few of these a year, the expenses really start to fly.

I’m of the opinion that you should have the wedding of your dreams that fits your budget, and that means paying for plane tickets/accommodations for your guests if you’re hauling them to a far-off destination. Because it’s not fair to expect them to pay. But that’s just me! A recent Twitter thread exposed one woman’s wedding spend, and it got some heated debate going.
