Company begs employee to tell them his work laptop’s password 6 months after he was fired: ‘Even I can do a hard factory reset’

Not every company in the world is the best at Information Technology. Some of them don’t even have an IT department, and it really shows. When there are computer problems, and nobody is there to fix them, it becomes exceedingly clear how much of the white-collar workforce is lowkey technologically illiterate. I am definitely guilty of this as someone who spent more time on an iPod touch growing up than an actual computer. Boomers are not so innocent, with only a tiny percentage of them being able to do something more advanced than opening up a web browser.

If an HR department is also responsible for IT in a company, they need to have at least a basic grasp of the concept. One company was so inept in this regard that they resorted to emailing an employee they had fired six months prior, asking him for his work laptop’s password.
