‘Go ahead, I could use a break’: Co-worker Tries to Take Tables from Star Server, Suffers from Malicious Compliance

Being a server is often a pretty brutal job. Customers are never more savage than when they’re hungry, and they are basically the ones who pay most of your wage. It might be a role that many of us have worked in over the years, but it takes a special kind of person to really shine in this kind of work. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for individuals who want to screw you over.

Somebody who learnt this a long time ago is u/iwasthechubbylady, who once had the management at her demanding serving job insist that she swap her bigger section with a co-worker, because they wanted the chance to earn more tips. When she agreed, the malicious compliance ensued — it was a lot harder than she made it look. Posting the story to Reddit, plenty of others took pleasure in the lesson that was given out. Don’t bite off more than you can chew, especially if it happens at someone else’s expense.
