Good budgeter recommends frozen meals over constantly ordering delivery, gets criticized for being insensitive: ‘Umm, people have depression and anxiety?’

We’ve been in a constant state of debate over whether it is morally okay to use food delivery services for several years now. I never ordered delivery outside of pizza until four years ago, and I have been forced to grapple with the fact that I have ordered McDonald’s breakfast at 6 AM instead of getting off my tuchus and making myself some scrambled eggs. For most people, ordering fast food directly to our door is a totally unnecessary waste of money, and as long as you’re willing to admit that to yourself (and you tip your delivery driver), I don’t think there’s anything heinous about ordering it once and a while.

There are, on the other side of this debate, valiant defenders of the right to order delivery from any restaurant to your home. Their reasoning? Doordash is for disabled people who can’t otherwise cook for themselves. While I am pretty confident that the majority of Doordash orders are out of pure need, this argument gets brought out again and again whenever any criticize of delivery services is posited.
