Matt Damon Eloquently Explains Why They Don’t Make Movies Like They Used to on ‘Hot Ones’

To state the obvious, we live in a period of time where our attitude to popular culture is starkly different to twenty five years ago. TV shows and movies get scripts that hope to create viral Twitter GIFs, everything from the latest top ten hit to an obscure 50s pop song gets mercilessly butchered by becoming a TikTok sound, and most importantly, we have all this different media right at our fingertips whenever we want.

As consumers, we’re more impatient than ever, and it definitely affects how all types of different media are produced. As a veteran of the movie industry, Matt Damon knows all about this. Appearing on interview show Hot Ones, he explained to host Sean Evans how radical changes to the business had led to very different kinds of movies being produced today. While some were taken aback by his in-depth analysis, many agreed that he was right about the affect of streaming on filmmaking. One thing’s for sure, the industry is never going to go back to how it used to be.
