You should always be suspicious of someone who says, «Nobody wants to work anymore.» If you’ve been around ambitious, motivated young professionals, you know that this is certainly not the case. Many people value working hard, and someone rarely wants to be unemployed for an indefinite amount of time out of laziness. Even people who aren’t constantly grinding still want to work!

So what’s with this «nobody wants to work» complaint? It’s a question usually posed by old fogies who think that everyone should be kissing their feet and begging for a job. People who run small businesses that pay employees next to nothing can’t understand why young grads won’t tolerate their paltry job offers when so many places offer better than minimum wage with no benefits. One of those old timers recently went viral on Reddit, and I can think of at least five good reasons why nobody wants to work for their business.
