There are so many ways to ruin a party. Fortunately, one bad apple usually won’t stink up an entire party. In college, I hosted a party where a guy spilled smelling salts in the kitchen, threw half-empty beer cans on the carpet, was rowdy and drunk, and had to be kicked out of the party by three people. That happened only a couple of hours in, and thank God that didn’t ruin the entire evening. It might have destroyed the evening for the guy who had to walk him home, and it definitely ruined the evening for the rowdy drunk guy’s girlfriend. Still, our early intervention prevented the entire party from going downhill. 

For a party to be ruined during the height of the evening, someone has to do something so disruptive, something that puts party guests off so intensely that nobody can have a good time. Party-goers or Reddit shared the times this exact scenario happened to them.
