Whenever you break out the old Nintendo 64, it’s hard not to feel like a kid again. Imagine, it’s a Wednesday afternoon and you just had a half day. Mom made grilled cheese and your friends rode their bikes over to play some Mario Kart. As you send a blue shell to your dirtbag neighbor, you have the biggest, most mischievous smile on your face. You never realized at the time that that was as good as life gets. As an adult, we get those nostalgic feels all the time when we play games. That’s half the allure! Except now when you go back and play your old games from 2002, it’s tough not to curse the clunkiness of the controls, the terrible graphics, and the awkward NPCs. So even when you’re  angrily blowing your old game cartridges because they’re acting up, remember that your old clunkers paved the way for behemoth masterpieces like The Last of Us, God of War, and Red Dead Redemption.
