If you find yourself rubbing shoulders with the upper crust, it won’t be long before they say something that they think will be relatable to everyone, but actually reveal their deep ignorance. The result can be a fun mix of amusing and insulting. Of course, being out of touch is not all about wealth, it can be any measure of removal from the everyman experience. I’m sure as heck out of touch with the sports world and have definitely made a fool of myself doing so. 

Recently, Redditor u/nlwfty opened the floor for others to share the most out-of-touch things they’ve been told, and the floodgates were open. In that spirit, let me share one from the annals of my life. An acquaintance, who had been born and raised in New York City once asked me if we had taxi cabs in Chicago. Girl, it’s one of the biggest cities in the world, of course we do!
