We’re living in a post-America’s Funniest Home Videos world. We no longer have a clip show airing on cable designed to show us as many fails as possible in close succession. We’re also living in a post-American Idol audition fails world. I have not watched American Idol recently, but I’m pretty certain they’re not using bad singers as virality fodder quite as much as they were in the aughts. If you want to watch a video of a comically lousy singer who isn’t William Hung, you must find one yourself. 

Lucky for us, people are uploading humiliating videos of themselves onto social media at record speeds. Even sports teams like the Pacers are using TikTok to promote humiliating performances. They recently had a little girl sing the National Anthem, and her performance was highly ungood. Instead of sweeping it under the rug and pretending it never happened, they posted it on TikTok for everyone to laugh at.
