I have committed so many acts of cringe in my life, so I might as well share some with you. After all, I’m going to be throwing so many stones at cringe people; I might as well admit that I’m no better than the cringey people who lie in these pics below us. When I was 16, I was in a production of Seussical The Musical. If you don’t know what that is, I’m so happy on your behalf. If you do, buckle up. At one point in the show, my character (the one-feathered bird girl Gertrude McFuzz) says to Horton the Elephant, «I found your clover too,» and I straight up forgot to bring the clover onstage. I had to save myself, saying, «Let me go get it,» and running offstage to find the clover prop. Despite my quick thinking, it was clear to everyone in that audience that I had totally screwed up. It’s hard for me to cringe at that anecdote now, but at the moment, it was the most humiliating thing I’d ever done.
