The Most Entertaining Parenting Posts of the Week (March 25, 2024)

Boy moms are such an interesting group. I’m not talking about normal mothers who happen to have only given birth to members of the male gender; I’m more referring to moms who wrap up a large part of their identity in being the mother of a boy, which is just so different than mothering girls. I’m sure that Dr. Freud has written extensively about this phenomenon and the inverse of girl dads, a much less maligned group in this discourse. I think the unnerving thing about so many boy moms is that they see themselves as a metaphorical romantic rival to the hypothetical women their sons will date in the future. How many moms have you heard talking about how they’ll always be their son’s «first love»? I’ve heard too many for my liking. If you get exactly what I’m putting down, these parenting posts might hit you where you live.
