‘They never mentioned this in Blade Runner’: Ford smart car refuses to start when software update fails, prompts derision from the internet

Car problems are a unique level of stress. When the thing you need to get from A to B starts throwing a tantrum about it, it automatically makes life seem so much harder (as well as more expensive). One of the many reasons that they are so upsetting is that there are so many factors that can go wrong — is it something as simple as an oil change, or does a pricey and complex part need replacing?

You would think that technological advancements would decrease the amount of issues that drivers face, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. This has been proven by a recent viral Twitter post, in which the owner of a tech-savvy Ford vehicle complained about a serious malfunction. When a software update proved unsuccessful, the touchscreen in the car announced that «your vehicle cannot be driven» and advised making contact with customer support.

Many people jumped at the chance to criticize this baffling feature, with some vowing to never drive a recently manufactured vehicle. The main surprise here is that it wasn’t a Tesla
