‘Why are we commuting for an office job?’: Journalist sparks uproar for weekly ‘supercommute’ from Ohio to New York

The horrors of the internet may be many, but it has its good points. One of the most practical of these is that for many jobs, companies no longer need every employee to be in the same place for things to get done. While the finer points of working from home are up for debate, it’s great that we have the freedom of choice.

In theory, we are in the age of the anti-commute. However, for every few people who are committed to the WFH lifestyle, there seems to be a bozo who is doing their best to make up for all the time and pollution that they are saving. This was the conclusive response to one viral video in which a Wall Street Journal journalist revealed how he made a weekly, several-hour-long commute into the New York office from Columbus, Ohio. Surely, that face-to-face colleague time can’t be that essential.
