People on the internet are obsessed with categorizing themselves in ways that they feel explain their present behavior. For example, some adults will complain of the burnout that apparently comes from being considered gifted & talented when growing up. Another one of these things that has become an increasingly popular talking point in recent years is being the trials and tribulations that can come with being an oldest child.

As the oldest child myself, I feel like I got a pretty easy deal of it. My parents didn’t play favorites too much and the age gap between me and my sister wasn’t large enough for them to put a lot of unfair responsibility on me. That being said, if you are the very first try at having kids it’s inevitable you are a test subject in a way that your younger siblings are less likely to be. No wonder meme makers love to complain about it.
