The mid-2000s seem like a different world nowadays. Flip phones were still in widespread use, skinny jeans were just starting to become fashionable again, and the financial crisis hadn’t come along to wipe out all of our hopes and dreams yet. 

This was the environment into which Nintendo released the Wii, the console that was as integral a part of many Gen Z childhoods as the original Game Boy was for millennials. Wii Sports was its most famous game that had everybody accidentally throwing their remotes at the TV, and honestly? I don’t know if family-friendly gaming has ever peaked as high since.

The advent of VR might be making the blocky graphics of the bowling alley and baseball field seem quaint now, but we couldn’t get enough when it first became available. This is evident in the amount of memes that have been made about this iconic game. Maybe it’s time to dust off our personalized Miis again.
