Being the middle child comes with its own set of struggles. When you’re the oldest-born child, you get a lot of attention from your parents since you’re paving the way for your siblings. Your parents haven’t had experience raising any other kids, so being the firstborn child means they are learning parenting processes with you as they go. When you’re the last-born child, you get a lot of attention simply for being the baby of the family. 

Getting babied and doted on comes naturally for last-born children in most families. Unfortunately, family dynamics aren’t always set up for true happiness when it comes to middle children. When you’re born smack dab in the middle, you end up getting forgotten a lot of the time! You’re not the oldest and you’re not the youngest, which means figuring out how important you are within your family is often a lost cause. Still, it’s something you can laugh off as you get older.
