I’m a sucker for a fancy grocery item. Turn me loose in the aisles of Whole Foods and I’ll feel like I’m at an amusement park. Pistachio butter? I’m in. Black sesame oatmeal mix? Say so much less. Small-batch yuzu kombucha? My credit card is already in my hand. While this isn’t necessarily good for my bank account, it is good for my spirit. I know a lot of these things are probably marked up beyond belief for suckers like me, but somebody has to be the sucker.

What often gets me more than anything with these products are the few keywords they use to make it sound classy, like «artisanal,» «hand-crafted,» or «sourced from Italy.» That one really gets me.
